House Republicans are starting to trickle out of their afternoon meeting on the fiscal cliff bill, and reports indicate that there is a growing consensus that the fiscal cliff bill will be amended to include spending cuts.

According to reporters tweeting from the scene, House Finance Chair Spencer Bachus (R-AL) said he would be "shocked" if the bill is not sent back to the Senate with the spending measures.

The question now is whether Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid would even consider bringing the amended bill to the Senate floor.
