London Mayor Boris Johnson shamed presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in front of a crowd of 100,000 people at the Olympic torch lighting on Thursday.

In an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams, Romney had offended Brits when he suggested that London wasn’t ready for the games.

“It’s hard to know just how well it will turn out,” the candidate said. “There are a few things that were disconcerting. The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials — that obviously is not something which is encouraging.”

During the torch lighting ceremony the next day, the London mayor made a point of calling out Romney.
