Back in the late '70s, a couple of guys in Florida put a small, marine diesel engine into a Ford Maverick. Then they turbo-charged the dickens out of it with several turbochargers placed in series. The result was 85mpg at 35mph. When they ordered 10,000 no-engine Mavericks from Ford, the EPA shut them down using the excuse that their engine exhausted too much nitrous oxide into the atmospere.

Did you ever notice that many if not most big diesel trucks and over-the-road semis have turbocharged engines? But they usually have, at most, 2 turbochargers. And these are in parallel rather than in series.

Here is what it is all about. If you can force more air into a diesel engine, you get a whole lot more power out. If you can force 4x the normal amount of air into a diesel engine, you might be able to get more than 8x the power out for the same amount of fuel.

I know a guy who had a 1987 Ford Escort station wagon 4 cylinder. He did some very strict tests on fuel mileage. While I don't remember the exact details, it was something like this.

He bought the car used at about 29,000 miles on the odometer. He tested it about 4 or 5,000 miles and found he was getting about 31mpg highway.

At about 34,000 miles he added Amsoil to both engine and trans-axle - stick 5-speed, not automatic. This gave him about an 8% increase in fuel economy. http://www.amsoil.com/

Next, at about 38,000 miles he added Energy Release to both engine and trans-axle. This gave him an additional 12% increase in fuel economy. http://www.energyrelease.com/

What is very interesting is that he was getting his about 40-41mpg doing Arizona mountain driving. When he did an I10, flat, straight highway test, west, out of Phoenix, he got 45mpg, highway, at about 55mph. And that was with 180,000 miles on the vehicle. All this was done on a stock engine, with the only a valve job having been done prior.

Amsoil claims that using their oils doesn't void warranties. I don't know about Energy Release.

The point is, we are closer to 100mpg for everyone than we think. Take a look at the additives in Wal-mart and Target automotives, and other stores as well. Then do some testing and let everyone know what works.
