Steve Jobs 1955 - 2011, RIP. 2005 Stanford Commencement Address

The world has lost a truly special individual. I never met Steve Jobs, but like many of us, have been deeply inspired by him. Just before I left Taiwan in 2005 to return to the United States, a friend emailed me this speech.

If you have yet to hear it, now would be an opportune time to clear 15 minutes out of your otherwise busy day, shut the door, turn off the phone and take it in. It is truly an inspiring message of freedom:

Of particular interest to me and the way I lead my life is this idea:

"...You can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that somehow the dots will connect in your future...because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path.

Wandering off the well worn path to wherever your heart may lead you is possible only if you are free.

Never forget, and always take the time to C E L E B R A T E your freedom.

None of us get out of here alive. So if not now, then when?

RIP Steve, and thanks for all the fish.
