Ron Paul & Immigration: A Speculative Theory
• hnn.usRon Paul’s position on what I’ll call unauthorized immigration—or immigration sans government permission--is indeed strange. He calls for “secure borders” but opposes employer sanctions, Real ID, and a border wall (which he says could be used to keep people in as well as out). He also minimizes the importance of unauthorized immigration by saying it wouldn’t be such an issue if the economy were healthy (people are worried about jobs now) and the welfare state didn’t exist.
That odd mix leads me to wonder if Ron Paul is actually for open borders but doesn’t want to say it. (He was for open borders when he was the Libertarian Party nominee for president in 1988.) True, there are arguments against my speculation. His website says, “A nation without borders is no nation at all,” he’s against birthright citizenship, and he opposes amnesty, which it claims “will only encourage more law-breaking.” (I oppose amnesty too. There’s no need to forgive people for doing what they have a perfect right to do.)
But can one really be against unauthorized immigration if one opposes steps that seem necessary to even begin to stop it? Who wills the end, wills the means, it is said.
Hence my suspicion that Ron Paul secretly favors open borders. That may be the good news. The bad news is that if it is so, it doesn’t speak well of the candidate. Why not say what you think—that people, no matter where they were born, have a natural right to move in freedom? Imagine what a splash he would make with such a statement at a debate.
What does he have to lose? He's not even running for reelection to Congress.

Immigration Issue Is Just A Mirage -- A False Alarm …
This Nation needs Ron Paul’s Heart – not necessarily his butt-pushers’ agenda.
Immigration issues are really not the onus of oddity people should focus on if they found Ron Paul’s candidacy rather perplexing. But there is really no concern over the possibility that he would ever get the GOP nomination for president this coming 2012 presidential election, and beyond. Even assuming lightning strikes when attracted by this possibility, his image-makers have but a Lilliputian strength to make him win the presidency.
Anyway, to back this up, notice that the X-number of Libertarian R3volutionaries behind this move, together with the enemy within and their radical accomplices from the Left combined, is too mediocre or not good or big enough to make RP win the national election and make him president. The campaign money that comes in is just a feed to a sick economy that needs a financial bailout with nothing worthwhile being truly accomplished.
When reality seeps in – amidst all these raucous publicity and Media pandering – it is really nothing but noise. The mirage in Cloud 9 evaporates!
Neither can Ron Paul win on national issues where his stand is, which to millions of Americans sounds weird, turning him into an "unelectable" candidate.
In other words, RP should purge himself of this tucked in idea that liberty also means the freedom to destroy the established institutions of America. By sponsoring and digging in deeper into this rabid idea, RP must know that he only caters to those few rejects of our main society, who believed with insuperable hate that their country – the United States of America – is an "Evil Empire" that they must destroy by all means fair or foul.
Most of those sponsoring weird left-leaning libertarian philosophers behind RP’s political campaign have strange ideas as if coming from another planet that rob RP the chance of becoming the president America needs … like how "they" fed his mind with this scheme that when he is president he would express his outrage in behalf of those who hated their government by recreating a freak America … a new nation without a Central Bank – or without the Federal Reserves -- without an income tax or IRS [just plain hate there, and more hate and hate here to cure this recent breakout of anti-Government-State neurotic paranoia (!)]; changing this country into a weird powerful nation with a foreign policy that renounces U.S. leadership in International Affairs … abolishing the United Nations and turning this nation into a compulsive recluse with nationalistic fervor … and similar other ridiculous presidential agenda he would bring to the White House when elected president. These are not real ... only a delirious obsession of reality that could never happen or could ever take place in the United States of America.
In short, these are all but a dream …all distorted aspirations in Cloud 9 … unreal and extremely delusional!
But here’s where our ordinal nth moment of liberation lies: If we have a heart of a president like RP, and with his brilliant mind on the right track, I really believe that our hope for this country’s future survival would be far from over!
