On Apex Predators

• arclein
Power cites the example of Yellowstone National Park in the US where the loss of wolves led to over-browsing of riparian (riverside) aspen and willows by elk. "As is so often the case with other apex consumers, man was to blame for the disappearance of wolves from Yellowstone," said Power. "The negative effect this has had on the vegetation has begun to be repaired by re-introducing wolves into the park."
