Georgia home owners association blocks home for paralyzed veteran

After months of negotiations, a neighborhood association in Athens, Georgia has blocked construction of a home for the family of disabled veteran Sean Gittens.

The Knob Hill Property Owners Association was worried that the home would hurt property values, according to The Augusta Chronicle.

Association board member Tom Rogers said that the planned 2,700-square-foot home “just doesn’t fit” on a street with “5,000-square-foot homes all the way up and down the street.”

A search of property records found that at least four other homes on Knob Hill Circle are less than 3,000 square feet.

The family currently rents a home in the subdivision, but at a press conference Monday, Sharon Gittens told reporters that she no longer felt comfortable there.
