Specifically, whenever a natural, economic, war-related, or other disaster strikes, these folks pounce and use the opportunity to quickly impose a brand of economic policy which benefits the elite at the cost of everyone else (by increasing unemployment, pushing the cost of essential goods through the roof, and otherwise increasing poverty), while people are still in shock and before they can react.

Yabut, America is raping herself, on a small scale, by the little people. Look at all the porn on the Internet. In fact, Internet porn is major reason that we all need spy-blockers, and pop-up blockers, and ad-blockers on our Internet browsers. Internet porn wouldn't be there if there weren't any demand for it. So it is we ourselves who are screwing ourselves. And then there is stuff like:
