Actually they took over in 1994 and reigned for 12 years. They lost control of the purse strings in 2006. And Bush term limited in 2008.
They ended the Tea Tasting Commission. And successfully fended off Republicans bringing it back into operation on four occasions. I'd call that a remarkable success in limited government . . . provided you ignore everything else they did.
