In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom. One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance who ran up to him excitedly and said, "Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?"

"Wait a moment," Socrates replied. "Before you tell me, I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Test of Three."

"Three?"

"That's right, Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my student let's take a moment to test what you're going to say. The first test is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it."

"All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's True or not."

"Now let's try the second test, the test of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?"

"No, on the contrary..."

"So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him even though you're not certain it's true?"

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed.

Socrates continued. "You may still pass though, because there is a third test - the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be Useful to me?"

"No, not really..."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all?"

The man was defeated and ashamed. This was the reason Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.

Of course, it also may explain why Socrates never found out that Plato was cavorting with his wife ;)

A lot of what appears on this site serves no good purpose, and is very likely to be untrue.   What purpose, exactly, does showing some unknown with a room temperature IQ  burning a book do, other than endanger other Americans in the rest of the world?

If the child of some American in some other country is killed and this article is referenced as a reason, will you feel better having let people know about this valuable information?  What is the good that will balance that childs death?

I agree that radical Islam is the essence of evil, and regular Islam is only marginally better.  Of course as an agnostic Jew, I am not impressed by the goodness of christians in general and the Church of pedophilia in particular.   And if you wanted to go to an Islamic country and burn the quoran there and put your life at risk, I would have no problem with that.  But these people are putting others lives at risk, sort of like what the coward GWB did.

World Islam wants Quran burning or the insulting of Muhammad or Allah to be a world crime, and with Obama in office this is the closest they've come.  He clearly consulted with his advisors about arresting Pastor Jones and backed off only with great personal regret, satisfying himself that his PC media lapdogs took his order to block out all coverage of Quran burning.  Nobody knows what horrific pressure they put Jones under to cancel his plans, maybe one day we'll know. If Thomas Jefferson were still president, he'd host a White House Quran BBQ and tell Allah and Muhammad to stuff it, this evil book is an enemy of the Constitution, and he swore to protect and defend it not them.  The Muslim Brotherhood front org. CAIR is supposedly distributing hundreds of thousands of free Qurans to Americans with Obama's blessing, so when you get yours just put it in your BBQ, call the local media, and smoke it to show them that you're still a free American despite all that Islam can do. Be sure and obey local fire codes :)
