Phoenix Councilman Johnson's assault case resolved without charges

Johnson, the city's lone African-American City Council member, was handcuffed and pushed to the ground in the March 19 predawn altercation during a house fire in Johnson's south Phoenix neighborhood.

The officer, Brian Authement, had accused Johnson of assault in the incident that sparked a citywide debate over police use of force and civil-rights issues.

Imagine what would happen to you if you weren't a former long term police detective from the same department that arrested you.

Imagine what would happen to you if you weren't a city councilman from the same city who's police department arrested you.

Imagine if you were a black man.

Yes, I am sure the federal, state, county and local governments would rush drop all charges of assaulting a police officer while extolling enthusiastic praise upon the arrestee for his cooperation in dropping civil rights charges.
