Angst rises as Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer mulls immigration bill

• Arizona Republic

The nation's battle over immigration reform this week landed squarely on Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's office steps. And with four days left to decide what she'll do about one of the state's most divisive issues in the midst of an election year, the pressure is mounting.

The Arizona Senate on Monday approved Senate Bill 1070, a wide-ranging illegal-immigration measure that, among other things, makes it a state crime to be in the country illegally and requires local law enforcement to determine an individual's legal status if there is reasonable suspicion that he or she is in the U.S. illegally.

I agree 100% that the Rs and Ds are corrupt and robbing this country blind and that needs to stop. That's why I campaigned for Ron Paul. The rightful benifits that I am talking about is the use of legal citizens tax money ( which has not been stolen or wasted by the government) to be used for example, for needed infrastructure instead of paying for social programs, education or other free give aways to illegal alliens at the taxpayers expense. More illegal alliens working in the US means less jobs for legal citizens and that is an undeniable fact. It also means less tax revenue that can be used for the benifit of legal citizens. It is the responsibility and duty of any forigen citizen to work to better their country, their govenment and protect their country as it is our responsibility to our country. We the people comes first before we the illegals. I married a hard working, brown skinned, black haired immigrant that has learned to speak english fluently and brought her to this country 7 years ago. We did it the legal way, we followed the law and we expect everyone else to do the same, any law abiding  person would agree with that. The people complaining the most are the ones that don't follow the law, in other words, the criminals.

The turning tide is that the legal citizens are fed up with the illegal immigration problem (among others) and are ready to make "real" changes. It takes courage to make hard choices and know when to say enough is enough and make hard laws. I don't like carrying my passport with me and presenting it if asked. It is inconvenient and annoying but so is a traffic stop. Have you got a better idea? I mean other than changing their status to undocumented democrats? The prosperity of this country does not depend on illegal immigrants. It only depends on its own hard working citizens. I know the liberals would rather just throw their rhetoic and other peoples money at the problem and call the problem "settled".

"Our citizens will receive more of their rightfull benifits that come from being a legal taxpayer. The tide is turning,...."

Rightful benefits?!!!!  That come from being a LEGAL  taxpayer?!!!!

The tide is turning, but immigration control has nothing to do with it.  The people in charge of stealing our earnings and demanding our obedience have destroyed our paper based economy via massive debt that can only be paid off by printing more money.  The jobs are gone.  The easy money too.  And those hard working brown people are on their way back to their own nations to set up their own prosperity.   Leaving us to deal with our fascist rulers in whatever manner we see fit.  Bootlicking is not a career I wish to pursue.

We our slowly turning our country into a policed state, all in the guise of immigration.  Roving check points will be the norm.  PAPERS PLEASE.  National ID coming soon, it's going to save us from 'the brown people'...

This bill needs to be signed and put into law. The illegal immigration problem has got out of hand and needs taken care of. Once other states see how much crime will be reduced and how much money is not being spent on law enforcement and social sevices and they will follow. More money will be available for education of the people that belong here and not wasted on those that should not be here. Our citizens will receive more of their rightfull benifits that come from being a legal taxpayer. The tide is turning, illegal alliens are not undocumented democrats.

I like the tail end:

[Bill author Sen.] Pearce called Tuesday's protesters "anarchists." He said he has not heard of any planned rallies in favor of the bill but said that is because supporters trust their state leaders.

"They are working jobs and raising families and expect us to do the right thing," he said.
