Massage businesses vanish during crackdown

• East Valley Tribune

As many as half the massage establishments in Mesa may have shuttered their doors since police began a crackdown on illicit activity two months ago.

The vanishing businesses are a result of police arresting employees on prostitution charges and issuing other citations on a large number of the shops.

The beauty of this story is it is all taking place at the behest and the benefit of a massage parlor owner who wrote the ordinance and then paid off a couple of councilpersons to guide it through and pressure the local police to enforce what hasn't passed.

Effectively driving legitimate massage businesses out of competing with this guy's government imposed monopoly.  Business as usual for government.  Want a massage in Mesa?  Go elsewhere to save money.  Want a hooker?   Figure out where the Bishops are now headed.
