Gitmo 9/11 suspects heading to NY trial

• AP
Self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees will be sent to New York to face trial in a civilian federal court, and five other suspects will be sent to military commissions, an Obama administration official said Friday.

The official said Attorney General Eric Holder plans to announce the decision later in the morning.

Either the case can be made for military tribunals or civilian courts, but not both.  Either they are terrorists subject to violating U.S. laws or they are enemy combatants captured by invasion and occupation forces defending their country and face military review.

But I guess the USA prosecutors want show trials featuring the most attention getting viewable detainees.  And they pick the northeast court district to seal the outcome and the payrolled judges who will go along to get along.

Should be quite a performance.
