Yankees 5, Angels 2: Yankees Win A.L.C.S., 4-2

For the 40th time, the Yankees won the American League pennant, which they clinched with a 5-2 victory over the Angels in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday night.

On Wednesday night the Yankees will play the Philadelphia Phillies at Yankee Stadium in Game 1 of the World Series, with C.C. Sabathia expected to start for the Yankees. It will be the Yankees first trip to the Series since 2003, when they lost to the Marlins in six games.
