 To listen to this number of scholars on the topic of the event, “Economic Crisis, War, and the Rise of the State,” was an intellectual treat.  But even beyond the lectures, learning continued as attendees visited amongst ourselves.

Sorry, but I don't trust the Cato Institute one bit.  They lie to further their right-wing agenda.  I may not be an "intellectual" but my IQ is high enough to see they are up to no good.

Encouraging. The "conservative" Cato institute has been a bastion of the "economic libertarians", i.e. people who desired economic freedom but who are pro-state when it comes to civil liberties, the war on drugs, the multiple international wars against humans & etc. In other words, statists who like being and staying wealthy.
