I live here in Portland Maine, where this is taking place. They interviewed the chairman of the school board, and one of the hosts asked would he be outraged if this had happened to his daughter. He said, I would, but that the staff is professional Blah Blah Blah!! As stated before, the taxpayer funding isn't the problem here.

nor funding of schooling or health at all. Maine, however, may have.

The funding is truly the bad part of the issue. A young girl's access to health care of her choosing and privacy (even from her parents) is a good news story.

Government paid-for contraceptives for 11-year-olds would not seem to have occurred to the Founding Fathers, I'm afraid.

Would you prefer a young girl who is, or thinks she may become, sexually active to NOT have access to contraception? Is parental guidance and health education so weak that it cannot survive the mere contact with contraceptives?

If the answer to either of those questions is "yes" then there are far greater problems than taxpayer dollars going to fund the program.

Birth control for 11 year olds. And regrettably this article failed to mention all done without the parents being aware their little girl is on the pill.
