Kingwood, Texas, September 9th, 2023: If one listens to the media and to talking heads around the country, one is likely to give up on a harmonious America. After all, they tell you that we are more polarized than ever.

Egberto Willies' book It's Worth It: How to Talk To Your Right-Wing Relatives, Friends, and Neighbors, is a necessary as a cup of coffee in the morning to today's absolutist audience.. Willies said that in these distressing times, it is worth engaging. After all, he said that asserting our worth is the fuel for growing out of our current dismal state.

"When one studies the wants and needs of Americans, it turns out that they want the same thing," Willies said. "But the puppeteers highlight issues that divide people in so many ways that sanity and measured reasoning is abrogated.'

"Many of us got a rude awaking as we saw in some of our friends, relatives, and neighbors, a side we had no clue existed" Willies said. "It has damaged, sometimes irreparably, relationships that were foundational. I definitely do not believe that it needs to be that way. You see, most of our dysfunction in the country is by design. it is manufactured. Out of chaos, the perpetrators who use us as tools and weapons to conquer for them, sit back as they profit from our toiling. That must not stand."

Willies' book has the answers and techniques that one can use to break the impasse that we are going through in the country. It starts with engaging with humility and listening. He points out that it is not enough to be right. And it all begins with trust.

You have Right-Wing relatives and friends. Sometimes you feel isolated because you believe you must keep your thoughts to yourself. After-all, you are just not up for another fight.

It does not matter how Progressive or Lefty you are. One can have a very enjoyable conversation with the most Right-Wing of relatives or friends. It is all about the approach.

Over several years of being an activist, a radio host, a blogger, and a writer, I have interfaced in a positive manner with everyone of all stripes. That taught me how best to engage in a positive and non-confrontational manner. It means it has allowed conversations and exchanges that otherwise would not occur because one could not get passed one's defensive walls.

This book explains what I have discovered about engaging with the Right. We all have friends and relatives where we may think the relationship is over. But if we simply find the entry point of commonality, which believe it or not, there are many, the conversation will begin. 100% agreement is never necessary. Dialogue is.

I have used my techniques now for over a decade. I give various real-life examples and stories that I am sure you can use as well. I can tell you that my Right-Wing friends now seek me out for coffee and meaningful conversations.
