PODCAST 1

Tomasz Bethke (Poland), Andrea Castellano (Venezuela), and Claudio Klaus (Brazil) join Jacek Spendel (Project Arizona)

Tomasz Bethke (Poland)

As we are always oriented towards international variety and our mission is to contribute in pushing freedom around the globe, we welcome our next participant from Europe, specifically from Poland, Tomasz Bethke.

Tomasz is 24 years old, and he considers himself a paleo-libertarian with strong ties to the Austrian School of Economics that he enthusiastically supports. He especially admires the fact that ASE is a highly individual-focused school of economics, rooted in human action. Tomasz helds the title of Bachelor of Finances and Accounting, and right now he is pursuing master degree in tax advisory. Tomasz follows the "taxation is theft" principle and believes that by giving people advice on limiting the tax damage he can help them to protect a bit of freedom.

The best way to describe his character is to say that he loves to learn.  "I like to learn new things. I'm buying more books than I am able to read. I love travelling and networking, because, in my opinion, respect and relationships are the strongest currency and the best investment.''

Andrea Castellano (Venezuela)

Exceptionally well educated liberty-driven law students are much needed in our society to implement and defend ideas of freedom in the area of law and legislation. This is why we have chosen another young law student, Andrea Castellano from Venezuela. Andrea is also an activist for freedom, she is a national coordinator at Students for Liberty, the largest pro-liberty student organization in the world in terms of leaders, countries represented, and events. Andrea said, "I want to raise a clear, visible and powerful message to promote and protect liberty, and this is why my passion for it grows every day."

Despite her young age, Andrea has already done so much for Venezuela. She was involved in initiatives such as the Pan American and Caribbean Network for Human Rights (PACURH) for which she was a member of the Board of Directors. She received an academic scholarship to pay her university tuition through the organization "Beca a un pana," and she was an intern at Lex Solutions Legal and Financial Advisory Group (January 2021-May 2021). Now it is so important for her to grow as a young activist and experience ideas of freedom in the USA. Welcome Andrea!

Claudio Klaus (Brazil)

Thanks to his brilliant performance, outstanding attendance, and dedicated service and involvement, Claudio Antonio Klaus Junior secured his place in Project Arizona 2022. Claudio was born in the countryside of Brazil where he realized at a young age that if you are not hungry for change, everything stays still and nothing happens. "I want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem!" Therefore he made sure to be so.  He is currently a law student pursuing master's degree in Brazil.

Claudio received Fordham University (New York) School of Law's Thiago Barbarisi Moraes Memorial Scholarship and is a 2020 Religious Liberty Fellow as  part of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society Religious Freedom Fellowship. He has also been deeply involved in several international programs in Azerbaijan, Canada, South Africa, Costa Rica, and the US. Soon after the COVID-19 pandemic hit Brazil, Claudio started a volunteer group to produce material regarding health and productivity during this time when individuals are working from home.

Jacek Spendel (Project Arizona)

Jacek Spendel – is the founder and president of the Freedom and Entrepreneurship Foundation. He is also the European Programs' Director at US-based Language of Liberty Institute.

Jacek obtained a Master's degree in sociology from the University of Silesia in Katowice. He also studied at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and Jagiellonian University in Cracow where he was a Ph.D. candidate in political philosophy. Over the years, Jacek accumulated experience in management from KoLiber Association (President, 2006-2007) and Globalization Institute (Project Manager, 2005-2012). During that period he interned at various institutions, including: Kodak Eastman Company (USA), Goldwater Institute (USA), Institute for Free Enterprise (Germany). He is also an alumnus of two programs of The Fund for American Studies: AIPES in Prague, and Capital Semester in Washington, DC.

Jacek strengthened his management skills with Think Tank MBA and ATLAS Leadership Academy (2013). He practiced them in many projects including the organization of dozen Liberty English Camps, directorship at Polish-American Leadership Academy, production of 12-episodes of Freedom under Fire video series, and coordination of ESFL in Poland. He also used to run his own pizza business in Katowice. Currently he is busy with Project Arizona, the internship-educational project for international students he runs in Phoenix.
