3. Ernest goes over James Corbett's recent article...
China One Belt One Road Vision for Global Trade
Well, OK, not that particular train itself. But what it represents. You see, this was the first ever shipment of cargo between Wuyi, China and Tehran, Iran, and it only took 14 days to travel the 6,462 miles between the two cities. Compare that to the traditional method of shipment between China and Iran. Those containers would generally be loaded onto ships in Shanghai and travel to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. Total journey time: 44 days. They just shaved a month off the trip.
Again, the significance of this is not the connection between China and Iran, per se. It is that this new rail line represents only one part of a much, much, much more ambitious project: China's "One Belt, One Road" plan to build a vast transportation infrastructure connecting the "middle kingdom" to destinations all throughout Central and South Asia, Eurasia, and even Europe. The plan is as ambitious as it is comprehensive; consisting of a "Silk Road Economic Belt" and a "21st-Century Maritime Silk Road," the aim is to link China to 65 countries with a combined population of 4.4 billion people, or more than half the population of the planet.
In an official news release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlining the project, the Chinese government explains:
"More than two millennia ago the diligent and courageous people of Eurasia explored and opened up several routes of trade and cultural exchanges that linked the major civilizations of Asia, Europe and Africa, collectively called the Silk Road by later generations. For thousands of years, the Silk Road Spirit – 'peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit' – has been passed from generation to generation, promoted the progress of human civilization, and contributed greatly to the prosperity and development of the countries along the Silk Road. Symbolizing communication and cooperation between the East and the West, the Silk Road Spirit is a historic and cultural heritage shared by all countries around the world."
The new silk road, then, is intended to be the 21st century equivalent of this millennia-old idea. But it is about so much more than mere transportation infrastructure.
The government document outlining this vision references a number of projects that China plans to undertake with its partner countries throughout the region: promoting cross-border energy infrastructure connectivity and oil and gas pipeline security; sharing government data and statistics on issues of mutual concern; harmonizing regulations; fostering cross-border cooperation in law enforcement; jointly investing in next generation technologies in materials science, biotech, IT, and other emerging industries; spearheading joint R&D efforts in production and marketing systems; increasing cooperation of financial institutions and even attempting to integrate financial systems; expanding the scale and scope of existing regional organizations like APEC, the SCO and ASEAN; establishing international fora and exhibitions to promote cross-border trade and cultural exchange; and on and on and on.
If the plan is sounding more like a nascent attempt at forming a regional government than a mere attempt to build a few new rail lines, that's because it is. Or, more precisely, it is China's attempt to convert some of its growing economic clout into geopolitical clout.
No one can accuse the Chinese government of holding back in this quest, either. The China Development Bank has so far pledged to commit $890 billion to over 900 projects in 60 different countries to help make this vision come true. Just to get a sense of what that number means, that is nearly seven times the size of the Marshall Plan (even adjusted for inflation).
In true Chinese style, the project amounts to a series of quid pro quo understandings with China's neighbors; you scratch the dragon's back, it will scratch yours.
China spends over $1.1 billion (in export credits) building a railway link from Khartoum to Port Sudan. Sudan restores key economic infrastructure and China improves its access to Sudanese oil.
China then pours $46 billion into energy infrastructure projects in Pakistan. In return, it gets access to Pakistan's port of Gwadar, a convenient point for shipping Chinese goods out to the world and bringing African resources in to China...through Port Sudan.
Much of the infrastructure investment is this way. Taken singly, the projects may seem random or haphazard. Taken together they are a brilliant way of playing win-win politics with China's neighbors and trading partners. China gets to increase markets and stabilize shaky trading partners and the recipients of China's largesse get a multi-billion dollar shot in the arm that comes without the usual burden of IMF debt conditions.
So we have a happy and prosperous China recognizing that its long term interest lays in spreading some of that wealth around to help prop up its neighbors. Rather than seeing other countries as competitors in a cutthroat dog-eat-dog world, China is treating its One Road, One Belt collaborators as partners whose rising tide will help lift the Chinese dragon boat. What could possibly go wrong?
Three things.
Firstly, the Chinese miracle is not looking so miraculous anymore. With global trade falling off the cliff, unsustainable ponzi debt schemes taking over from manufacturing as drivers of domestic growth, and more currency devaluation in the cards this year, there is no guarantee that China will be able to continue doling out this kind of cash in maintaining its growing trade empire, let alone expanding it. $890 billion is an impressive sounding pledge, but actually delivering on those promises will be infinitely more impressive.
Secondly, the US (or, more accurately the financial oligarchs who largely inhabit the US at this stage of history) might decide that the phony rivalry with China is no longer in their best interests and simply put a stop to it...militarily or otherwise.
And thirdly, China is not alone in its quest for dominance in Central Asia, Eurasia, and the Caucasus. For all of their overlapping interests, Russia and China's designs on the region are more rivalrous than cooperative, and Russia's own Eurasian Economic Union is a stark example of how Moscow's idea of development in Central Asia is going to come into conflict with Beijing's sooner or later.
With all of these pressures, it remains to be seen if the "One Belt, One Road" dream will ever become reality, or merely a series of empty promises. But one thing's for sure: a cargo train just rolled into Tehran from China, and the world is slowly re-orienting toward Beijing.

Darryl W. Perry was born and raised in Birmingham, AL and the surrounding area; graduating from Hewitt-Trussville High School in 1996. Darryl attended Jefferson State Community College on a Scholarship with the Speech Team (Forensics Team), and later on a Management Scholarship with WJSR-FM, the college radio station, of which Darryl was Station Manager from Summer of 1997 until he graduated in 1998.
Darryl has spent most of his adult life as an advocate & activist for peace and liberty.
Darryl is an award winning author, publisher & radio/TV host. He is a regular contributor to several weekly and monthly newspapers. He hosts the daily newscast FPPRadioNews, the podcast Peace, Love, Liberty Radio, the weekly news podcast FPP Freedom Minute, and is a regular co-host on Free Talk Live.
Darryl is a co-founder and co-chair of the NH Liberty Party, and was on the National Committee of the Boston Tea Party from 2008-2012. He was the longest serving member of the National Committee, and was twice elected Chair. The BTP dissolved in July 2012 after Perry resigned as Chair.

Libertarian Debate - Winners and Losers...

Debate - Part 2:
The first Libertarian Party debate was hosted in Biloxi, Mississippi, by the Libertarian Parties of Mississippi and Alabama this past weekend. Here, despite my own personal bias, there were several clear winners and losers.
The debate was split into two parts; one with all eleven candidates and then the second half where only five candidates debated.
The debate was civilized and didn't devolve into a spat of insults like the GOP debates.
Winners:
Gary Johnson: Johnson had a resounding night. The former New Mexico governor made the case of why he should be the Libertarian Party's presidential nominee for the second time in a row. He is the most experienced candidate up there and the only one to hold office; plus he is already known to the national media. He also had one of the best lines in the debate when he called Donald Trump a "pussy." He will be one of three candidates in the Fox Business Stossel debate in March.
John McAfee: The cybersecurity guru made a compelling case in why he should be the Libertarian Party's nominee. He slammed the United States on it's unpreparedness for cyber-warfare and was articulate and well-spoken. He also brought up that he is well-known in the media; being one of three candidates that has appeared on national television.
Austin Petersen: TLR's founder was a winner for being able to keep up with Gary Johnson and John McAfee. He managed to get a reaction out of Gary Johnson over Sharia Law. Petersen's message that there is a need for a broader ideological coalition in the Libertarian Party is something that should be echoed by all of the candidates. His line about building a wall around Donald Trump and making Bernie Sanders pay for it was the best line of the night.
Darryl Perry: While I disagree with Perry on his anarchist philosophy and advocacy for the dissolution of the United States, his communication skills are great. He doesn't want to build the party, which is a minus, but his ability to communicate his proposals are top-notch. He's going to make this race very interesting as he has become one of the top four candidates.
The Libertarian Party: They won because their top three candidates are Gary Johnson, John McAfee, and Austin Petersen.
Losers:
Video Quality: My God, that first-half debate video quality was horrible. It improved in the second half, but our video quality needs to get better. Isn't this the party of free market innovation? Can we get McAfee to address this?
Everyone else: They didn't make a very good impression on the audience. That was evident in the second-half of the debate as only five of the eleven candidates were invited back. Hopefully they become better at debating and make a more profound contribution.

2016 Presidential Campaign Platform
Statement of Principles:
I believe…
…that all coercive forms of taxation should be eliminated, and government programs should be funded voluntarily.
…that people should be allowed to travel freely without government interference; this includes the right of individuals to choose where they decide to live.
…in the right of self-determination; that is the right of "determination by the people of a territorial unit of their own future political status."
…that every person and/or group of people should be allowed to decide for themselvesif and/or how they will be governed.
…that men do not need leaders, we are all capable of leading ourselves. Governments only get in the way of allowing this to happen.
…that the United States government, as it exists today, should be abolished!
CIVIL LIBERTY AND CIVIL ORDER
Abortion
I oppose abortion for moral reasons, however I do not believe it should be illegal.
I do not believe that any tax-payer funding should fund abortion, nor do I believe that any tax-payer money should fund organizations that offer "abortion alternatives" (i.e. organizations that encourage adoption). Government created barriers to adoption should also be eliminated.
I would like to see more anti-abortion advocates focus on education as a way to reduce the number of babies that are aborted. Additionally, just as a mother can waive parental rights upon birth by putting the child up for adoption, the father of the child should likewise have the legal option of either waiving parental rights, or having the first opportunity to adopt the child if placed for adoption.
Copyright & Intellectual Property
Current copyright and patent laws are imbalanced, and must be repealed to respect the free flow of information. When you use information to guide your action or configure your own property, the originator of the idea still has the idea.
Crime
All peaceful prisoners should be released, so long as their offense does not have a victim. Police should no longer arrest or ticket people for offenses with no victim, and such crimes should be eliminated from federal statutes, state statutes and local ordinances.
DC Voting Rights
The residential areas of Washington, D.C. should be retro-ceded to so that all residents are in Maryland. The only land left within the District should be Government Offices, Museums and Parks.
Drugs
The "War on Drugs" costs the federal government over $15 billion per year, State and local governments spend an additional $25 billion each year. These costs include the incarceration of nearly 1 million people for drug offenses; the vast majority of these individuals have harmed no one.
Individuals with drug addictions should be treated medically for these addictions, they should not be treated as criminals.
There were no federal drug laws until the early 20th Century. The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 was ruled Unconstitutional in 1969. In 1970, however,President Nixon was successful in getting Congress to pass the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970, and States were forced to adopt the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. These sets of laws are a blatant violation of the 9th and 10th Amendments.
ALL laws regulating the production, distribution and/or use of any substance should be repealed.
Education
The Federal Department of Education should be abolished, and all voucher programs should be abolished. Parents should take a more active role in the education of their children, something as important as education should not be handed over to a government.
Equal Protection Under the Law
Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by any government entity on account of race, creed, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Freedom of Association
Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association and that no one may be compelled to belong to an association. This freedom of association includes the right of business owners to refuse service to any person for any reason; however no business owner should be compelled by law to deny service.
Freedom of Speech, and of the Press
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. I oppose all forms of censorship, whatever the medium involved; this includes laws and/or regulations that stifle the expression of ideas, especially ideas that are dissenting or political in nature, regardless if the person expressing the idea is doing so on their own accord, as part of a group, or as a member of the media.
Government Reform
Governments should be transparent and free of corruption. I believe the Downsize DC Agenda is one methods for bringing about this reform.
Further, all individuals have the god-given right to life, liberty & pursuit of happiness, whenever governments become destructive of these rights, the people have the right to alter or abolish it. The federal government has been destroying rights since 1791, therefore I believe that the federal government should be abolished!
Immigration
I believe that people should be allowed to travel freely without government interference. This includes the right of individuals to choose where they decide to live.
Current federal immigration laws are convoluted and give preferential treatment to individuals from certain countries. The current system also relies on quotas, hosts and in some cases an immigration lottery, as well as preferred treatment to athletes and refugees. This must change, and there should be one uniform immigration law. I believe the best model law is the "wet foot, dry foot rule" in place for people fleeing Cuba. Under this rule, anyone from Cuba who makes it safely into the United States, is allowed to stay; however, the aspect of this rule that I would end is that the Coast Guard patrols the waters looking for people with "wet feet" in order to redirect them back to Cuba. The immigration policy of the United States of America should once again resemble the words written on the Statue of Liberty
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
An aside: most of the people who argue against eased immigration standards point to the "abuse" of the welfare system. That is actually an argument against welfare, not an argument against immigration!
Privacy
Encroachments on privacy by government should be eliminated so far as it is possible to do so. Electronic and other covert government surveillance of citizens should be restricted to activity which can be shown beforehand, under high standards of probable cause, to be criminal and to present immediate and grave danger to other citizens. The national census and other government compilations of data on citizens should be conducted on a strictly voluntary basis, and the census should only ask the question: "How many people live at this address?".
Secession and Self-Determination
I fully support the right of self-determination; that is the right of "determination by the people of a territorial unit of their own future political status." Though there are no established guidelines regarding how a group of people exercise their right of self-determination. During the 1860's several States attempted to leave the United States of America, several counties in these States took secession one step further and seceded from their seceding State. It was this act of self-determination that allowed West Virginia to become a State, it also led to several "Free State's" throughout the Confederacy.
The United States of America was founded on the principles of self-determination. Not only has the U.S. government violated the self-determination rights of the Native Americans, but also the people of Hawai'i, Guam, Puerto Rico and many other people who have become dependent on the U.S. government. I believe that every person and/or group of people should be allowed to decide for themselves if and/or how they will be governed.
Self Defense
As a Life Member of the Second Amendment Foundation, I support the right to privately own and possess firearms or any other weapon deemed appropriate for self-defense.
TRADE AND THE ECONOMY
Budget & Economy
I fully support abolishing the Federal Reserve, IRS and all unconstitutional spending. I support a free-market system with honest money and competing commodity-backed currencies.
Corporations
I oppose all governmental subsidies and bailouts, direct or indirect, to business, labor, or any other special interest; a business should be allowed to succeed or fail without governmental interference.
Energy & Oil
I support the use of alternative energy sources. While energy is needed to fuel a modern society, government should not be subsidizing any particular form of energy. I oppose all government control of energy pricing, allocation, and/or production.
Environment
I share the opinion of Dr. Mary Ruwart "The environment would benefit immensely from the elimination of sovereign immunity coupled with the privatization of land and beast. The third and final step in the libertarian program to save the environment is the use of restitution both as a deterrent and a restorative."
Health Care
I support the existence of free-market certifications and believe such certifications are helpful to those looking for qualified health care.
I believe that individuals should be free to choose the medical care they believe is best for themselves. This includes the freedom to seek alternative forms of treatment, such as holistic, homeopathic, chiropractic, acupuncture, shaman, or any other form of treatment they choose. Governments should not mandate what qualifies someone to give medical treatment, nor should any government use force, or the threat of force, to prevent an individual from seeking treatment from an "unqualified" practitioner.
I support the repeal/abolition of the FDA, Medicare, Medicaid, forced vaccination, mandatory health insurance laws, and any other governmental dictate that interferes with than individuals right to choose the medical care the wish to seek.
Infrastructure & Technology
Government should not be involved in this area, this is an issue best left to private industry.
Jobs
It is not the job of any government to create jobs. This is an issue best left to private industry, without interference from government.
Social Security
Social Security is nothing more than a Ponzi-scheme, whereby a fraudulent investment operation pays returns to its investors from their own money or the money paid by subsequent investors, rather than from profit earned by the individual or organization running the operation.
Every individual should be responsible for his/her own retirement. Therefore, everyone should be allowed to opt-out of the Social Security system. Those who decide to opt-in to Social Security should have their contributions placed into a private account, such as a 401k or Money Market Account, which they control.
I wish to phase-out the system altogether to remove the coercion of government from an individuals retirement.
Tax Reform
I support abolishing the IRS and all forms of coercive taxation (this includes tariffs, excise taxes, payroll taxes, etc), and government programs should be funded voluntarily.
Welfare & Poverty
Tax-payer funding for welfare should be phased out as quickly as possible. Dr. Mary Ruwart explains, "A voluntary society would more efficiently provide aid and actually give the poor an opportunity to become rich."
FOREIGN POLICY
Foreign Policy
There is a saying "If goods don't cross border, armies will." I believe American foreign policy should seek an America at peace with the world. Peace will never be achieved through force. Libertarians seek the withdrawal of troops from the 900+ military bases in over 130 nations around the world.
I support an end to tax-payer funded foreign aid.
Free Trade
Free Trade does not require a treaty, rather a lack of government involvement. I support real free-trade (not the bureaucratic version of "free trade" that exists under NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, etc). To paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, I support peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none.
Homeland Security
I support abolishing the Department of Homeland Security. Constitutionally, the military is responsible for protecting the country; however, I do not support a standing army, rather I support calling up a military only in times of declared war or in cases of imminent defense.
United Nations
I support the immediate withdrawal of the United States from the United Nations.
War & Peace
I am opposed to war for moral and philosophical reasons, not for political reasons. Force is only justified in defense of person or property, pre-emptive use of force is always wrong.
The foundation of libertarianism is mutual respect. It is a principle that extends to our relationships with people throughout the world.
All American troops currently stationed around the world, excepting those troops who are protecting embassies, should be brought home immediately.

My silence about any other particular government law, regulation, ordinance, directive, edict, control, regulatory agency, activity, or machination should not be construed to imply approval.

Dmitry has been involved with digital currencies as far back as 2003, studying their use and economic development in various games and virtual worlds. He holds a Master's in Global Finance and Economics, and has over a decade of experience in personal and corporate finance and investments. He also has a background in technology, and prior to switching to finance was involved in IT and software development, including working as an IT manager and software developer for McDonald's Corp.Dmitry has been involved in bitcoin in various capacities, including mining, investing, helping with related project development, venture funding, and volunteering as a Bitcoin consultant for "Bitcoin 101″ tables at various conferences. Mycelium - What we are all about
The Mycelium project was started by developing the Bitcoincard in 2008. The goal was to create an infrastructure-independent, self-powered, ad-hoc network that could dynamically form wherever a sufficient number of nodes came together to support it. Back then there was no bitcoin, and the main purpose of this network was to create an uninterruptible text messaging system that works directly between active and present nodes within a radius of 300 meters, via credit card form factor user devices. When Bitcoin was released, the project team realized that it fits perfectly into the project's ideology, and decided to concentrate its efforts on integrating bitcoin into a software-programmable hardware device.
In 2012, Mycelium team decided to diversify projects, and began developing Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet and other bitcoin-related products. The software development and hardware engineering team is comprised of world-class specialists, whose main task is to develop a full range of products which would enable bitcoin use by both physical, and legal/corporate persons in all areas of economic activity, ranging from the acquisition, storage, and use of bitcoins in everyday life as payment tool, to long term investments and professional trading of cryptocurrencies.
Today the Mycelium team consists of 35 people working in Europe, America and Asia.
Mycelium's Goal - to make bitcoin penetration as prevalent in our lives as the level of Internet penetration is in the life of modern man.
