I recommend getting Bible tapes or CDs and listening to a good, large chunk of the New Testament every day. Why listening rather than reading? Because it's easy, and you will hear things that you miss when reading. Once you hear them, you can go back and read them in the written Word. --- And listen to the whole NT over and over. Never stop listening, every day a little. You need God's power, and this is the way to get it ground into yourself.
