Campaign Signs and the First Amendment
Menckens GhostOf all the insults to our intelligence during campaign season, the worst is the political class trying to make us believe that they have a First Amendment right to clutter street corners and other public places with their ugly campaign signs.
But I do thank pols for our laws saying that if the signs aren't removed by seven days after the election they are fair game. It's amazing how useful surplus corroplast is. Wall insulation for outbuildings, especially chicken coops going into the winter months; waterproofing layers under animal bedding; installation behind railroad tie retaining walls to stop dirt leaking out the cracks; windbreaks for winter gardens. We ride around after the deadline snarfing up as much as we can usefully recycle. Waste not, want not.
