Rule of law has not collapsed. Rather, if someone takes you to court, you have the right to confront your accuser - the man or woman himself/herself. Your accuser better have a real claim against you, or you win whatever he was going after you for. If you take him to court, but he doesn't respond, even to the extent of not coming to court, you get a default judgment against him. If he comes back to nullify the default judgment (because no default judgment is ever the final judgment, except in a court of record jury trial), then you have him in court, where one of you is judged right or wrong. Here is the clincher. All cases can be taken to Federal (often United States) District Court, a court of record, where things are done man to man, like in Judge Judy's court, with the judge only a referee, and the jury the real judge. It may not be easy to do, but it has always been done this way.
