"Either you create your future or you become the victim of the future someone else creates"

That's the most important part of this whole rant. You can reject technology, you can go luddite or amish or primitive if you want, or you can make it work for you instead of for them. There are two paths available. In one, the good people cripple themselves into irrelevancy, the totalitarians have a brief orgy of domination, destruction, and violence in which most of the us and the self-helpless innocents die and we can't do anything about it. In another, they use the powerfully liberating and empowering nature of technology to set themselves free and defeat tyranny *before* it kills all of us. I say don't be a luddite, be a hacker, because I don't relish the idea of dying in a camp somewhere for lack of understanding how I got there.
