I used to be very gung ho and 'patriotic', and it may be true that the USA is the last, best hope for man on earth, but I can't say I am particularly proud of what it has become or the direction it is going. I guess Michelle Obama and I have that in common. I value freedom, not worship of the State. Nationalism is a tool of tyranny. Old Glory is not much more than the advertising logo for a state that does little to preserve our freedom. My informal polling, which I admit was unscientific and conducted under the influence of intoxicants, reveals many people do not know that the name of the holiday is Independence Day, not The Fourth Of July. I just hope perhaps a few people will take a minute between their grilling and drinking and oohing and aahing at fireworks to think about what freedom means and realize they don't have it. Maybe they will realize it's time for a r3VOLution.

 I have been reading and rereading the Declaration of Independence for several years now.  I will ask others to do the same, usually I get a polite "oh that is nice" type reply to that will interfer with the fireworks.  This year I had a few say they will read it.

If you have nothing to celebrate tomorrow, the Fourth of July, 2011 as many of you have indicated the intensity of your frustrations, just imagine that the fireworks and the explosions in the sky signal the start of your real R3VOLUTION against the Government from this day on! Even granted that it is only imagined, the louder the noise is, the more real is the paper revolt against the Red Coats from whom we are declaring again our Independence! Let’s imagine that representing the government is Obama, the Red Coat [!?#*].

I am ready to march to the Park tomorrow to join Powell Gammill’s 2011 July Fourth R3volution!!! My great, great, great grandpa has a priceless collection of Revolutionary Muskets – the Flintlock and the smoothbore Charleville infantry muskets used during the Revolution! I will bring the smoothbore with me because it is lighter, just in case I meet a Red Coat on the way to the Park.
