Congress wants a trade war: Bill would ban US from buying Chinese goods
• RawStory.comThe prohibition would last until China, a World Trade Organization (WTO) member for nearly 10 years, signs on to the WTO's "Agreement of Governmental Procurement," enabling Washington to challenge Beijing's procurement rules.
Sabre rattling. Vote gathering. Demagoguery at its worst. It's a no-brainer that this will not happen. How do I know? Walmart exists, and it has all the clout on both sides of the fence.
Wal-Mart might purchases a lot of products from China. If legislation disallowed such purchases, Wal-Mart would have to reestablish manufacturing sources for products in other countries. If that happened abruptly, could it harm Wal-Mart economically?
Yes it could. Which is why I'm saying that it won't be allowed to happen.
