Hegemon USA Recklessly Challenging China on Taiwan

by Stephen Lendman

According to the Financial Times on Monday, hostile to peace, equity justice and the rule of Law, Nancy Pelosi, "plans to visit Taiwan next month to show support for Taipei" — despite Beijing's strong opposition to the move.

If she shows up with others in her entourage as expected, she'll be the first US House speaker to visit what China considers a breakaway province since Newt Gingrich travelled there in 1997.

In response to her expected visit, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Wang Wenbin, said the following:

Beijing "repeatedly stated its stern position on firmly opposing…Pelosi's visit to Taiwan."

"The US Congress is part of the US government and supposed to strictly adhere to the (its) commitment on the Taiwan question."

"If…Pelosi (breaches it by) visit(ing) Taiwan, it would seriously violate the one-China principle and stipulations in the three China-US joint communiques and harm China's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

"It will have a severe negative impact on the political foundation of China-US relations, and send a gravely wrong signal to 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces."

"Should the US side insist on making the visit, China will act strongly to resolutely respond to it and take countermeasures."

"We mean what we say."

Separately, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Zhao Lijian, said Beijing "will  take firm and forceful measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity" if Pelosi goes to Taiwan.

Asked to comment about reports of her planned visit, her office said the following:

"We do not confirm or deny international travel in advance due to longstanding security protocols."

According to the FT, she'll lead a congressional delegation in August to Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as to the Pentagon's Indo/Pacific Command in Hawaii.

Ducking the issue when asked if the reported visit is accurate, interventionist Blinken's so-called spokesman Price said her travel plans weren't announced and remain "hypothetical (sic)."

Like the vast majority of others in Washington, Pelosi is militantly hostile toward nations free from US imperial control — especially Russia, China and Iran.

In May, the fake Biden was asked if hegemon USA will defend Taiwan if attacked, saying:

"Yes, that's the commitment we made" — an unacceptable remark his aides walked back from.

On Wednesday, the FT reported that the Pentagon "does not support  Pelosi's planned visit to Taiwan."

If she goes ahead with it anyway, it'll come on or around China's People's Liberation Army Day.

It commemorates the August 1, 1927 founding of the PLA 95 years ago.

Ahead of the anniversary last year, a statement by China on Jul7 27 said the following:

The nation's leadership "remain(s) committed to promoting peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit, to an independent foreign policy of peace, and to the path of peaceful development."

"No matter how the international landscape evolves, China will always strive to maintain world peace, promote global growth, and uphold international order."

"China's military will always be a force of justice for world peace and development."

Commenting on Pelosi's planned visit, China's Global Times said the following:

If she goes ahead with it as reported, it'll "be a huge mistake…one of the most egregious provocations by the US to China on the Taiwan question."

China's Defense Minister, Wei Fenghe, said the following in June:

"China will definitely realize its reunification."

"If anyone dares to secede Taiwan from China, we will not hesitate to fight, and we will fight at all costs."

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the following about a reported Pelosi visit to where she doesn't belong:

If she "deliberately visits Taiwan, it would be a malicious provocation against China's sovereignty and gross interference in China's internal affairs, and would send an extremely dangerous political signal to the outside world."

"If the US side insists on having its own way, China will surely make a firm response and all the consequences will be borne by the US side."

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences research fellow, Lu Xiang, said the following about Pelosi's planned visit:

"(I)t would not be a miscalculation but an intentional provocation by the US side," adding:

If the Biden regime disregards Beijing's legitimate concerns on this sensitive issue, "we will see the China-US relations fall off a cliff, for sure."

On April 30, Pelosi became the most senior Biden regime official to support Nazi-infested Ukraine by showing up in Kiev for a photo-op with puppet Zelensky.

The affront to Russia and regional peace will apparently be followed by provoking China if her Taiwan visit proceeds as planned.
