Inventing a Nonexistent Russian Threat to Ukraine

by Stephen Lendman

The world community of nations knows that Russia poses no threat to Ukraine or other countries.

Its geopolitical agenda is worlds apart from US-dominated NATO's forever wars by hot and/or other means on invented enemies.

Ignoring reality in service to his higher power in Washington, European Council president Charles Michel said the EU  prepared "a firm and unified position" on possible Russian aggression against Ukraine.

He and bloc countries know that the alleged threat is invented, not real. Yet he added the following:

"Talking about Ukraine and developments regarding the (nonexistent) militarization along Ukraine's border on the Russian side, we have prepared the position that will be debated tomorrow with the European Council and which is extremely firm and extremely unified and consistent (sic)."

European Commission Ursula von der Leyen also pushed the fake threat, saying:

European Partnership participants expressed "concern about (the nonexistent) Russian military buildup along Ukraine's eastern border (sic)."

"We are calling on Russia to deescalate (what it didn't escalate) and refrain from any further aggressive acts" despite engaging in none.

"We assured (US vassal state) Ukraine of our steadfast support and commitment to its sovereignty and territorial integrity and there should indeed be no doubt (sic)."

"The European Union will respond firmly against any further aggression of Ukraine" despite no evidence of any since WW II ended.

The so-called Eastern Partnership includes EU member states with Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Once again, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov debunked the above rubbish as "empty…groundless" escalation of tensions over nothing, adding:

"Russian forces are not and have never been (deployed) in" Donbass.

They "remain on the territory of Russia."

On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called unsettling developments in Ukraine "a cause of concern," adding:

US-led NATO regimes "are ramping up the delivery of weapons to Ukraine…training its servicemen, and (what's going on is not for) maintaining peace and stability but for…increasing…ongoing" Kiev aggression against Donbass.

"Western instructors (are) training the Ukrainian military and (its) neo-Nazis as revealed by the recent scandal at the Hetman Pyotr Sagaidachny National Ground Forces Academy."

"About 10,000 NATO troops, 4,000 from the US and 6,000 from (other) alliance countries (are) stationed in the country in flagrant breach of Minsk I and II conflict resolutions.

Separately, a joint statement by Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova called on Brussels to let them join the bloc, saying:

"We acknowledged the need to enhance cooperation of the Association Trio with the EU aiming at increased coordination among them on matters of common interest related to advancing the European Integration."

"We reiterated our determination backed by the strong will of our peoples to work towards joining the EE."

"(W)e call on the EU to support the sovereign choice of our states together with all the relevant steps taken by us vis-a-vis European integration and acknowledge the European perspective of Georgia, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine."

Former European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker earlier said that EU or NATO membership for Ukraine is off the table for 20 or 25 years.

Separately, US-installed Ukrainian puppet president Zelensky urged Brussels to impose more (illegal) sanctions on Russia than already.

At the same time, he called ending forever war on Donbass a priority while his regime continues to escalate it.
