No Biden Regime Intent to Lift Illegal US Embargo on Cuba

In place since 1962, US embargo on Cuba is war by other means in breach of international law.

So-called Cuban Assets Control Regulations prohibit all currency transactions between the US and Cuba unless licensed by the Treasury secretary.

Section 620 (a) of the US 1961 Foreign Assistance Act lets the president establish and maintain a total (illegal) embargo on all trade between the US and Cuba.

A blockade by another name, Law Professor Francis Boyle earlier defined them as "belligerent measures taken by a nation (to) prevent passage of vessels or aircraft to and from another country," adding: 

"Customary international law recognizes blockades as an act of war because of (possible) use of force even against third party nations in enforcing the blockade." 

Past US presidents JFK and Dwight Eisenhower called blockades acts of war. 

So did the US Supreme Court in Bas v. Tingy (1800) and the 1863 Prize Cases during the Civil War, the latter requiring congressional authorization to impose embargoes.

The framers believed that no single official, including the president, should have sole authority to declare or wage war — by hot or other means.

The US Constitution vests this power with Congress.

Yet time and again, US president act on their own — in flagrant breach of the Constitution and UN Charter.

Post-WW II, no national emergency ever existed between the US and another country, not even during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

In its aftermath, Jack Kennedy said that he never had any intention of going to war over an issue that was resolved diplomatically.

On Thursday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called on the Biden regime to lift the "absurdly cruel" embargo of Cuba (causing) Cubans suffering," adding:

"It is never acceptable…to use cruelty as a point of leverage against (Cuban or any other) people."

Imposing and maintaining it was and remains a political act unrelated to national security.

Like its predecessors, the Biden regime refuses to lift it.

At a White House press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Biden's impersonator defied reality by saying:

"There are a number of things that we would consider doing to help the people of Cuba (sic), but it would require a different circumstance or a guarantee that they would not be taken advantage of by the government (sic)."

At her Thursday briefing, White House press secretary Psaki repeated the Big Lie by Biden's impersonator, falsely saying:

The Biden regime "stands with the Cuban people (sic) and their call for freedom (sic) from both the (nonexistent) pandemic and from decades of repression (sic) and economic suffering (sic) to which they've been subjected by Cuba's (government) (sic)," adding:

"There's an ongoing review of our own policies (sic)." 

"(A)s we look at those policies, one of the big factors is ensuring we are not doing anything to pad the (government's) pockets (sic). 

"(W)e're looking closely at how we can help in a humanitarian way (sic), how we can help support the voices of the Cuban people (sic), and there's an ongoing policy review in that regard (sic)."

The most obvious way to help Cubans is by lifting the illegal embargo — what's been off-the-table for US regimes since imposed over 60 years ago.

So is ruling out remittances from Cuban-Americans to their relatives in the island state by Biden regime hardliners — falsely claiming that the government "would confiscate those remittances or big chunks of it (sic)."

Separately during his Thursday briefing, Biden's double falsely called Cuba a "failed state…repressing" its people (sic) — a politicized remark for its rejection of Western-style predatory capitalism and refusal to sacrifice its sovereign rights to US interests.

Longstanding US policy toward Cuba is all about wanting the country transformed into a subservient vassal state.

Its failed agenda since 1959 is highly unlikely to fare better ahead.

A Final Comment

Cuba's Communication's Minister  Miguel Rodriguez denounced the Biden regime for blocking its ability to buy communications technology by its illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade — in flagrant breach of international law.

Separately, he accused the US of waging propaganda war on Cuba via multiple television and radio channels.

"(W)e urge (the Biden regime) to put an immediate end to these aggressive actions that damage the sovereignty of Cuba (and are) incompatible to the development of respectful cooperation between our states," said Rodriguez, adding:

"We reject these aggressive practices and cyber attacks."

On Thursday, Cuban President Diaz-Canel tweeted:

"Citizen peace, respect, solidarity among compatriots and others in need worldwide, saving Cuba to go on building, growing, dreaming and attaining the greatest possible prosperity. That's our message for our people."

On Wednesday, he denounced the US blockade that "does not allow us to progress at pace we need…"

The Biden regime's idea of "help(ing) the people of Cuba" is by waging forever war on the country by other means to punish them.
