Worlds Apart UN Addresses by China's Xi Jinping and Trump

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Xi's remarks displayed statesmanship and diplomatic outreach to the world community in stark contrast to Trump's bombast, bravado, Big Lies, and mass deception, wrapped in the American flag — like all his addresses.

Without mentioning the US by name at a time of greatly deteriorated bilateral relations because of the Trump regime's war on China by other means, Xi stressed the following:

"No country has the right to dominate global affairs, control the destiny of others, or keep advantages in development all to itself."

He stressed that "(r)elations among countries and coordination of their interests must only be based on rules and institutions."

"They must not be lorded over by those who wave a strong fist at others."

China seeks cooperative relations with other nations, confrontation with none — polar opposite how the US operates, seeking global dominance by whatever it takes to achieve its aims, including brute force when other tactics fail.

"We should respect a country's independent choice of development path and model," said Xi.

No nation has a legal or moral right to benefit by exploiting others. He slammed what he called "the trap of 'clash of civilizations.' "

Calling for the world community to pursue inclusive development cooperatively, he criticized unacceptable "unilateralism and protectionism."

Saying China has "no intention to fight either a Cold War or a hot war with any country," he stressed the importance of resolving differences and disputes diplomatically.

Foreign affairs academic Li Haidong said Xi's remarks expressed opposition to "Trump (for) recklessly quitting international organizations and pushing a unilateral agenda with hegemonic power," adding:

The US today is "the biggest troublemaker for the world order" because of its drive for global dominance at the expense of other nations and their people.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbi said Xi's UN address showed his multi-world polarity commitment based on international law.

Separately, Xi stressed that Beijing "will never allow any individual or any force to jeopardize (the country's) peaceful life and right to development, obstruct (its) exchanges and cooperation with other (nations), or undermine the noble cause of peace and development for humanity."

Trump's remarks make painful listening, notably his unacceptable bashing of China and other nations, along with his serial lying.

He falsely called made-in-the USA COVID-19 "the China virus," the Big Lie he 'trumpeted' many times before, falsely blaming Beijing for what came out of a US biolab — exported to China and countless other countries, a high crime against humanity.

Ignoring his mishandled COVID-19 response, he turned reality on its head, saying:

"(W)e launched the most aggressive mobilization since the second world war (sic)." His actions and lack thereof were polar opposite.

When available, Big Pharma coronavirus vaccines will be hazardous to human health. Avoiding them is crucial.

All vaccines are unsafe. Rushed development of COVID-19 ones in the US may make the claimed cure worse than the disease, potentially deadly in some cases.

On Trump's watch in 2020, US economic conditions are worse than any previous time in the nation's history.

Turning truth on its head, he said "we will defeat the virus (sic). We will end the pandemic (sic), and we will enter a new era of unprecedented prosperity, cooperation, and peace (sic)."

Dismal conditions in the US for the vast majority of its people are polar opposite his fantasy rosy scenario — with nothing from the White House or Congress ongoing to improve things.

He recited a litany of anti-China bald-faced Big Lies.

He called for the UN to hold China responsible for made-in-the-US coronavirus and economic collapse.

Defying reality, he called America's environmental record "exceptional (sic)."

In 2010, Project Censored exposed the Pentagon as "the worst polluter on the planet," adding:

Despite overwhelming evidence, "the environmental impact of the US military goes largely unaddressed by environmental organizations."

Its damaging "impact includes uninhibited use of fossil fuels, massive creation of greenhouse gases, and extensive release of radioactive and chemical contaminants into the air, water, and soil."

A decade later with trillions more dollars spent on militarism and endless wars on invented enemies, global Pentagon pollution is worse than ever.

Yet it remains unaccountable for environmental and countless other high crimes.

Ignoring rampant US human rights abuses at home and abroad, Trump turned truth on its head, falsely calling the country "a leader in human rights (sic)."

It leads in horrific abuses, not protecting against them.

"American prosperity (and) freedom" he touted are for its privileged class alone at the expense of exploiting ordinary people everywhere.

"We are standing with the people of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela," he roared, nations along with others his regime wants transformed into US vassal states.

He slammed the landmark JCPOA nuclear deal. Supported by the vast majority of world community nations, including key US allies, his regime is isolated on this issue.

He bragged about OKing the cold-blooded murder of Iranian Quds Force commander General Qassem Soleimani — a redoubtable freedom fighter, beloved by Iranians, widely respected regionally.

Trump lied calling him "the world's top terrorist (sic)."

State terrorism is what the US does, both right wings of its war party sharing guilt, polar opposite how Iran and other nations on the US target list for regime change operate.

America is a warrior state, a belligerent state, a culture of violence, how it operated from inception — responsible for more harm and misery to more people over a longer duration than any other nation in world history.

Trump lied calling the US a "peacemaker (sic)," a notion it abhors and doesn't tolerate. Its forever war on humanity needs no elaboration.

Reinventing reality in his address to the UN fell flat.

America's dismal state is polar opposite his fantasy version.
