Response from the Office of AZ Governor in regards to concerned citizen on gov't Executive Autho

Written by Subject: Arizona's Top News

From A Concerned Arizona Citizen…

You do not have the executive order power to make unjust proclamations and claim ARS 26-301 and 26-303 give you such authority. Be specific. We do not have a state of war emergency nor danger from hazardous material.I will not comply with this executive order.

~Thank you~

Thank you for contacting our office about Governor Ducey's most recent Executive Order directing Arizonans to "Stay home, Stay healthy, Stay connected"  in the continued effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The latest Executive Order issued by the governor follows new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and comes at the recommendation of public health officials who are tracking data specific to Arizona.

Under the Executive Order, Arizonans shall limit their time away from their homes, except:

-To participate in essential activities

-Volunteer or participate in essential functions

-Utilize any services or products provided by essential business services

You can read the order to determine whether it applies to activities you'd like to undertake HERE.

We know many citizens have questions about whether their business or charitable organization is considered essential. Governor Ducey issued an Executive Order on March 23, 2020 to ensure one uniform policy defining "essential services" throughout Arizona, and we encourage you to review the order to determine whether your business falls into an exempted category.

You can view the Executive Order detailing Essential Services HERE. You can also view additional clarification on Essential Services from the Governor's Office HERE. If you still have questions about whether your business is essential, please feel free to contact our office for additional guidance.

Please note that those essential businesses choosing to stay open during this time must follow the Department of Labor, Arizona Department of Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for sanitation and practice social distancing to the extent possible.

If you would like more information on Coronavirus relief resources available to citizens including unemployment benefits, school closures, and volunteer opportunities, please visit our website at www.arizonatogether.org, you can also dial  2-1-1 or 211arizona.org for more information.

If you are seeking public health guidance, preventative measures, or details about Coronavirus cases in Arizona, visit the Arizona Department of Health Services

Thank you again for contacting the Governor's Office.

Sincerely,

Office of Constituent Services
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey
