The NYT Opposes Syria's Liberating Struggle

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

The self-styled newspaper of record is an imperial mouthpiece. It never met a US war of aggression it didn't wholeheartedly support - blaming victims for high crimes committed against them.

Its articles, editorials and commentaries on Syria have been some of the Times' worst - disgracefully vilifying its legitimate leadership, pretending the conflict  is civil war.

There's nothing civil about US-led naked aggression, using ISIS and other cutthroat killer terrorists as imperial foot soldiers - not a word about reality on the ground in Times' reports, disinformation and Big Lies alone.

Its latest propaganda piece continues earlier misreporting. Readers relying on the Times to understand what's going on in Syria know nothing but state-sponsored rubbish.

The Times continues calling cutthroat killer terrorists "rebels" or "opposition forces."

It lied claiming "rebel fighters and their civilian supporters…rose up more than seven years ago demanding regime change."

The vast majority of Syrians support President Bashar al-Assad. No so-called popular uprising occurred. The country was invaded by US-supported terrorists - recruited in scores of countries.

The Obama regime bears full responsibility for waging war on a nonbelligerent country threatening no one. Trump regime hardliners share it for wanting aggression continued, not ended.

The level and extent of misreporting on the war since begun in March 2011 is some of the worst in memory - disgraceful rubbish, including from the self-styled newspaper of record, reporting a litany of Big Lies throughout the conflict, truth-telling about what's going on entirely suppressed.

The Times: "Where Syria and its Russian and Iranian allies see a chance to crush the remaining opposition, Western leaders warn of a humanitarian calamity in Idlib…"

Fact: The so-called opposition in Idlib is comprised of merciless cold-blood killers the Times supports.

Fact: The only "humanitarian calamity" civilians face in Idlib (or anywhere else in the country) is from US-supported terrorists committing atrocities against them, holding others captive as human shields.

Civilians also face possible intervention by US and allied terror-bombing to support the terrorist scourge vital to eliminate.

The Times: "Many of the noncombatants now in Idlib fled there from other parts of Syria, escaping the brutality of the government forces of President Bashar al-Assad. Tens of thousands were bussed there as part of surrender deals with the government."

Fact: No one "fled" from elsewhere in Syria to Idlib. Those who agreed to leave from areas about to be liberated were US-supported terrorists, going there to save their necks.

Fact: Damascus and its military liberated most areas controlled by US-supported terrorists. They're responsible for brutality going on, along with the US and its imperial partners in high crimes.

No military solution would be needed anywhere in Syria if Washington hadn't launched naked aggression - war continuing because Trump regime hardliners reject resolution.

The Times ignored what's essential to explain. Washington, its imperial partners, and terrorist foot soldiers bear full responsibility for the "devastating toll on civilians" the broadsheet highlighted - not Assad, not Syria's military, not Russia, Iran or Hezbollah.

Their struggle against US-led aggression is the only chance Syrians have to rebuild their shattered lives in peace - an objective Trump regime hardliners, NATO, Israel, the Times, and other media scoundrels oppose.
