Fund Raiser Dinner ~ Saturday Only Farm Stand ~ Veggie List 5/10/14

• Tonopah Rob

Don’t forget to get mom flowers for Mother’s Day.

The Farm-Vendor Market was rockin’ and rollin’.  We saw many people walking through the gate with smiles on their faces while holding onto their reuseable shopping bags.  People came to the farm to shop and they did a fine job.  Joe the Fish Man sold out of his salmon and Mike, owner of Stage Line Ranch sold out of several cuts of his grass-fed beef.  Mom and Pops Bagel Shop was represented by their daughter, Lidia.  She also sold out of the many varieties of breads and pastries.  The other vendors had a good day too like Nadine’s Naturals.  I bought her dishwasher and laundry soap plus towels for my mom for Mother’s Day and several other cool items.  Rosemarie, the Tupperware Lady and Relish This did a fantastic job selling their wares….and Carol’s Delectables sold a wagon load of jams and jellies.  It was a beautiful day at the farm.  From all of my vendors and myself, we thank you so much for your support.  Because of your support, small business owners like ourselves can stay in business and feed our families so again, thank you!

This Saturday, the farm stand is the only location Tonopah Rob will be selling produce.  All other markets will be open this weekend but Tonopah Rob will not be selling at those locations. The Stock Shop Farmers Market is also closed this weekend.  Again, Tonopah Rob will only be at the farm on Saturday from 8 to noon….why? It’s Mother’s Day.

Did I mention this Sunday is Mother’s Day?……….don’t forget!

It’s Mother’s Day, don’t forget to buy her flowers. Tonopah Rob will have flowers available at the farm stand for 5.00/bouquet.  Come early flowers sell out fast.  Also, don’t forget to purchase your raffle tickets for a Farm Stand Only CSA Share.  It’s a 250.00 dollar value for a 5.00 dollar ticket. The drawing will take place on June 7, 2014 after the closing of the regular farm stand.

Here’s a little more information about the first Farm Fund Raiser Dinner.  I’m really excited about the festivities.  I want to invite you to come dine under the stars. The dinner will take place next March either the second or third weekend.  On Saturday beginning around 3:45 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. everyone will arrive.  Dress is semi-causal.  (A note about footwear: please do not wear any high heels, sandals or any open toed shoe).  Around 4:20 p.m. I will welcome everyone to the dinner under the stars.  Shortly thereafter we will take a farm tour and stop in the middle of the farm for a Native American dance ceremony to bless the farm. Once the blessing ceremony is complete we will continue with the tour.

Flowers for Mother’s Day……..right?

Around 5:30 p.m. we will return to the Farm Stand and a beautiful catered dinner from the farm which will also include other local farmers products.  Arizona wine, local goat cheese, beef and all the fixin’s from Tonopah Rob’s farm will soothe our palates and comfort our bellies.  After dinner, dessert will be served in cahoots with a private concert from a local area blue grass/old-time country/gospel band.  After the concert, we will sip another glass of wine and say our good-byes.

The reason for the dinner is Tonopah Rob is expanding the farming operation by way of aquaponics and Rob will use the fund-raiser dinner to help fund the new water project.Tilapia and possibly Bass will be the fish of choice and several vegetables will be grown along with the fish like heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, lettuce and maybe strawberries.

The cost is 150.00 dollars per plate and to dine at the head table tickets are 200.00 dollars. The date is still to be determined but will be either the second or third weekend in March of 2015.  Tickets go on sale June 30, 2014.  Seating is limited. Please pay by check, no credit or debit cards accepted.

Tonopah Rob will be hosting an organizational meeting for anyone who would like to volunteer their services to help plan the night’s event.  The meeting will be held on May 31, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the farm under the hub station.  If you would like to help please send Rob an email or call to discuss your strength/talent of volunteer service.  We already have a chef, the band and tables. Everything else will need to be organized.
