
Secretary Walsh visits Phoenix to discuss the Build Back Better Agenda's workforce training,
Written by Donna Hancock Subject: Arizona's Top NewsPHOENIX., Aug. 24, 2021 - U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh will travel to Phoenix on Tuesday, Aug. 24 to meet with local officials, community leaders, union members and workers and discuss the Biden-Harris administration's historic investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the Build Back Better Agenda.
Secretary Walsh will first visit GateWay Community College, part of the Maricopa Community College system, and join Mayor Kate Gallego and the school's leadership for a roundtable discussion on how, particularly in light of the coronavirus pandemic, the workforce development investments in the Build Back Better agenda are critical for building a prepared, equitable healthcare workforce.
Secretary Walsh will then join Sen. Mark Kelly in visiting Carpenters Local 1912 and the Phoenix Indian Center, and will end the day with a roundtable discussion on the need for a robust federal paid family and medical leave program with workers, advocates and faith community members.
Secretary Walsh will be available for media at each event.
