The Driver of Climate Change: Human Overpopulation

Dear Time Magazine staff:  (letters@time.com)

Re: "Climate is Everything" by Time staff, page 60, November 8, 2021

As to your "Cop 26 Agenda", each expert wrote about solutions, but not one of them included human population stabilization. It IS the single most important solution.  Thus, the "urgency of the crisis" continues to evade all participants. Why? Because they run around, avoid, suppress and/or ignore the fact that Africa will jump from 1.4 billion in 2021 to 2.1 billion by 2050 and 4.0 billion by 2099.  Why does that escape Time staffers and the attendees?  What about India at 1.3 billion about to jump to 1.6 billion by 2050?  And China at 1.4 billion will add another 100 million people by mid-century.   The USA will jump from 330 million to 440 by 2050. The world to jump from 7.8 billion to close to 10 billion by 2050, give or take a few years. (Source: United Nations Population Projections)

How can a group of highly educated, highly intelligent people ignore the obvious?  Ford executive Linda Zhang wants to turn all vehicles into electric transportation.  One problem:  we are already on the verge of exhausting lithium that powers those batteries.  When our resources run out, how do you feed 9 to 10 billion people in the next 29 years?

Answer: you can't, you won't and it's leading to mass starvation as oil faces exhaustion around mid-century.  We're simply overpopulating our ability to be sustained by this finite planet.

Later, you come up with a "drone bionic" cow that will feed 10 billion people.  Consequently, that allows more humans to overwhelm the rest of the planet with continued exponential growth. Why not gracefully decline human numbers with birth control. Why not a "Human Population Stabilization Summit" in Glasgow, Scotland that deals with real solutions at the source rather than at the back end after that 10 billion has landed on this planet? Oh, and bring all the religious leaders to whop them upside the head with facts that humans can no longer "go forth and multiply or have four wives with eight kids, each." Otherwise, they all face starvation or catastrophic climate destabilization that will render all their offspring, dead.

Finally, you talk about "Raising Africa's Voice" as it explodes from 1.4 billion to 2.1 billion and on to 4.0 billion. Not a word about that harsh reality.

What you've done in this extensive report: perpetuate human growth.  You're supporting endless multiplication of humans on the planet.  You possess no understanding of our impact on the other 30 million species sharing this planet, not to mention the plants.  You people at Time Magazine need to pull your heads out of the mud, talk to the publisher Edward Felsenthal, and start leveling with the American people.  Will you?  Probably not!

Thank you,
