Promoting US Aggression Instead of Denouncing it

Promoting US Aggression Instead of Denouncing It

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Washington gets away with smashing one country after another because media scoundrels support its imperial ravaging - instead of exposing and denouncing it.

Without major media support, anti-war activism could be reinvigorated after decades of indifference toward America's killing machine since years of anti-Vietnam War protests.

No US enemies existed since imperial Japan surrendered in August 1945, the second war to end all wars ended.

Things didn't turn out that way because of US rage for global dominance, waging one war of aggression after another against invented enemies at a time none exist.

Anti-war activism in America and Europe slumbers while US-led NATO rapes, destroys and plunders nations for their unwillingness to bend to Washington's will.

The Clintons, Bush/Cheney and Obama are gone, replaced by warrior president Trump, surrounded by lunatic fringe neocons, his war cabinet hardened by imperial spear-carrier Pompeo and raging hawk Bolton - eager to unleash Washington's killing machine against all nations not subservient to its interests.

America is addicted to war. The business of America is waging one after another.

America's Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) under Bush/Cheney, Obama and now Trump reserves the right to use nuclear weapons preemptively.

Trump's NPR goes further than his predecessors based on a Big Lie - preparing for nuclear war, falsely claiming it's to address "an unprecedented range and mix of threats" posed by Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and other countries.

Militarism, belligerence and naked aggression are longstanding US policies. Claiming "global threat conditions have worsened markedly since" Obama's 2010 NPR is a bald-faced lie - other than what Washington and its imperial allies instigate.

They threaten world peace and stability, not Russia, China, Iran and other nations on America's target list.

The NYT marches in lockstep with all US wars of aggression, notably against the Syrian Arab Republic, headlining "Trump's Approach to Syria Is No Way to Run a War," saying:

CENTCOM commander General Joseph Votel was "shock(ed)" (to hear Trump saying) "I want to get out. I want to bring our troops back home."

Trump "has an impulse…but no strategy, an emotion but little insight into reality on the ground."

"His call to withdraw troops immediately is at odds with warnings from American commanders who believe that it could lead to a resurgence by ISIS, like the rebound of militants in Iraq after Mr. Obama brought troops home from there."

Fact: Trump's withdrawal talk was meaningless bluster. Straightaway after his remark, hundreds more US forces were deployed to Syria - still more like heading there than pulling out.

Fact: US involvement in Syria constitutes premeditated naked aggression against the country - Pentagon and allied forces at war on a nation threatening no one.

Fact: A resurgent ISIS is only possible with US support, responsible for creating the group and other terrorists, used as imperial foot soldiers.

Fact: Instead of explaining what's most important for readers to know, the Times and other media scoundrels substitute disinformation, Big Lies and fake news.

The Times: "The president just doesn't seem to get that any American withdrawal requires careful thought to ensure we don't surrender the gains we've made, endanger troops on the ground or alienate our allies."

Fact: Gains America made? Perhaps the Times means turning Raqqa to rubble, massacring countless thousands of civilians by terror-bombing, destroying vital Syrian infrastructure, and supporting terrorists committing gruesome atrocities, including use of CWs on defenseless civilians.

The Times and other media scoundrels banish truth-telling from their reports, serving as virtual Pentagon press agents when America goes to war.

The self-styled newspaper of record, its leading broadsheet, is part of an anti-world peace and stability cabal, a mouthpiece for imperial lawlessness.
