Trump Supports Terrorism

Trump Supports Terrorism

by Stephen Lendman

America is history's greatest perpetrator of state-sponsored terrorism. Its so-called war on this scourge is a fabricated hoax. Its sordid record is longstanding, including:

genocidal war on Native Americans - continuing today against their culture and traditions;

enslavement of Black Africans;

its deplorable history of racism and Islamophobia - including mass incarceration of people of color and others most disadvantaged;

its aggression against numerous independent governments for regime change; and

support for groups like ISIS, Al Qaeda, and its Al Nusra offshoot.

Last September, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov accused the Obama administration of "de facto support for terrorism…us(ing) (it) as a weapon against Russia…show(ing) the political depths (his) administration stooped to (in) the Middle East…specifically (in) Syria."

Candidate Trump lied, claiming he wanted ISIS smashed. As president, he's continuing the same imperial policies as his predecessors, accelerating, instead of ending them - supporting ISIS and other terrorist groups instead halting US support and combating them.

In October, 2016, republished on April 28, Michel Chossudovsky discussed "US military aid…to Al Qaeda and ISIS-Daesh" in Syria, illicitly supplied - on the phony pretext of supporting nonexistent moderate rebels.

NATO, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, other Gulf states, Jordan and Israel are involved - supporting terrorist groups while pretending to oppose them.

Trump continues Obama's war on Syria, elsewhere regionally and beyond - recruiting, arming, training, funding and directing anti-government terrorist groups, using them as imperial foot soldiers, wanting all independent governments replaced by pro-Western puppet ones.

In summer 2015, Iraqi lawmaker Alia Nusseif said "(w)e don't have any trust in Americans anymore…ISIS is being used as a tool by America to divide and weaken Iraq."

The same is true in Syria, Yemen, elsewhere regionally, and Afghanistan, including as a weapon against Russia.

On April 27, Bashar al-Assad said Trump's policy toward Syria continues what Obama began.

He's "doing what he is told to do by the CIA, the Pentagon and major oil companies." His campaign promises were hollow.

He "has no policies." US actions are "drawn by the American institutions which control the American regime which are the intelligence agencies, the Pentagon, the big arms and oil companies, and financial institutions, in addition to some other lobbies which influence American decision-making," Assad stressed.

Like his predecessors, Trump "merely implements these policies, and the evidence is that when (he) tried to move on a different track, during and after his election campaign, he couldn't" and didn't.

"He came under a ferocious attack. As we have seen in the past few weeks, he changed his rhetoric completely and subjected himself to the terms of the deep American state, or the deep American regime."

"That's why it is unrealistic and a complete waste of time to make an assessment of the American President's foreign policy, for he might say something, but he ultimately does what these institutions dictate to him."

"This is not new. This has been ongoing American policy for decades…(T)he United States always seeks to control all the states of the world without exception," Assad correctly explained.

It has interests, not allies, wanting all nations to be "American satellite(s)" - aiming to impose "hegemony on the world" by brute force.

Assad defined so-called "moderate terrorists" as anti-government fighters, committing "beheading(s) and slaughter…without carrying an Al-Qaeda (or ISIS) flag, or without saying 'Allah Akbar.' "

Terrorists serving US interests are called "moderate opposition" elements, "even if they commit" gruesome atrocities, Assad stressed.

Endless conflicts and instability serve US imperial interests. Media scoundrels suppress Trump's support for terrorism.

His reckless agenda risks confrontation with Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. Possible nuclear war on his watch is humanity's greatest threat.
