More About: Imperialism

Former Bush/Cheney Hawk Urges More Aggressive US Foreign Policy

Former Bush/Cheney Hawk Urges More Aggressive US Foreign Policy

by Stephen Lendman

Nobel Peace Laureate Obama bombed seven countries while commander-in-chief of America's military - Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Somalia, besides authorizing destabilizing activities in dozens of others.

Maybe Foreign Policy contributor John Hannah wants Russia, China, Iran and other countries becoming us war theaters. He's a senior fellow at the right-wing Foundation for Defense of Democracies, earlier serving as Dick Cheney's national security advisor.

Headlining "No Time to Lose: Why the Next President Must Move Quickly to Reassert US Power," he claims Obama's successor "will inherit a global security order in an advanced state of decay."

Things today are "markedly more violent and unstable than (when) he took office. Adversaries from Russia to China to Iran are dangerously emboldened. Allies have lost faith in US support."

Fact: US imperial madness threatens world peace and security, the key reason why things are "violent and unstable."

Fact: America creates adversaries, not the other way around, nonexistent ones to advance its imperium.

Fact: So-called allies Hannah referred to include Saudi Arabia, Israel, and other regional rogue states, wanting greater wars of aggression than already.

He accused Obama of "decline, drift and retrenchment" during his time in office - with less than three months ahead of a new president succeeding him.

He's over-the-top suggesting "(r)evisionist powers will escalate their efforts to undermine the foundations of US power and dismantle the American-led global system."

Russia, China and Iran favor world peace, respect for international law, multi-world polarity and mutual cooperation among all nations.

Neocons like Hannah want endless wars of aggression, replacing all sovereign independent nations with US vassal states.

He favors "alter(ing) the increasingly destructive dynamic of (recent) years," wanting more wars, not resolving ongoing ones, "assert(ing) American strength and leadership" by brute force.

He urges increasing the already bloated defense budget. Rebuild the military to a greater force strength. Tell Iran the next time they defend their territorial waters from US naval intrusions, "lethal force" will follow.

Give Israel unqualified support. "No more apologizing for past US failures or alleged transgressions…There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the era of unilateral conciliatory gestures to moderate the behavior of sworn enemies is over."

The next president should "hit the ground running…convincing allies and enemies that a new day has dawned in US foreign policy."

America already is a world-class bully, more dangerous than other rogue states, past and present. Obama's war on humanity isn't enough for Hannah.

Maybe his notion of US assertiveness is destroying it altogether. He may have nuclear war in mind - how America's lunatic fringe thinks.

A Final Comment

Speaking from Athens, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Washington will have to come to terms with Moscow. The sooner it happens the better while knowing bilateral relations deteriorated significantly during Putin's tenure as president.

Things went sour when America realized Moscow wasn't saying "yes, sir," to US geopolitical demands. It's angered over Putin's independent foreign policy. He's against all nations "follow(ing) a leader…believ(ing) in his own exceptionalism."

He justifiably refuses to play by Washington rules, - Obama saying America must write them for the global economy, an unacceptable policy, forced on other nations by intimidation or brute force.

"If our US counterparts think this way…they will have to undergo a painful realization that no country is capable of doing anything alone anymore," Lavrov explained. "That's why we will have to come to terms" or blows if unable to.
