In light of Israel's offensive in Gaza, naturally, there are rallies to support one of the sides in the conflict in which some have already taken place in Arizona. In the latter part of July, one pro-Gaza rally took place in Tempe, and one just recently took place at the Arizona State Capitol. The group responsible for these events is the Phoenix chapter of CARAMA, the Coalition of Arabs and Muslims in America. I am sure some libertarians might be inclined to join or participate in such rallies. However, I speak from personal experience having organized and participated in protests against the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Any presence on the part of libertarians at events like this will either be ignored or quietly reviled with them being seen as useful idiots. I have no doubt the purpose of any of CARAMA's events is to side with or support Hamas which includes jihad against Israel.

An example of the nature of pro-Gaza protests is one that took place in Miami where supporters of Gaza Palestinians chanted phrases such as: The martyr is God's love, Let's go Hamas! and for Jews to await the return of Mohammed's army invoking the Battle of Khaybar. That war involved Islam's prophet, Mohammed, conquering Khaybar with his Muslim army in which much of Khaybar's Jewish population were either killed or enslaved. The remaining Khaybar Jews were later expelled by the town's caliph:



Then there is the Facebook page of CARAMA Arizona's Phoenix rally which states in their description:

Join our protest to express your solidarity with the innocent victims of the ongoing Israeli operation in the Gaza strip. Enough is Enough, how money more children and innocent civilians should die or be displaced before the situation gets resolved.

By condemning the deaths of civilians, the organizers and participants of this group's rallies actually condemn Israel. This is tantamount to scorning the ability of the country to defend itself and I am sure that includes berating Jews. Notice that any claims on the part of groups or indiviudals who are pro-Gaza completely ignore the fact that Hamas started this conflict and that includes their illustrious predecessors Fatah/PLO who set the precedent in the tradition other Islamic jihadists of centuries past. I, for one, do not celebrate and mourn the the deaths of innocent civilian casualties in any war. However, in terms of Hamas-Israeli conflict the fault for innocent civilians' untimely demise lies at the feet of Israel's aggressors. It is Hamas who has not only regularly ignored or broken negotiated cease fires but uses civilians as human shields including hiding weapons caches in civilian areas. This being done purposely so when Israel retaliates for Hamas' aggression, the melee can get press coverage in hopes of making Israel look bad in the court of public opinion. Never mind that Israel makes it a regular practice to warn Gaza civilians prior to retaliatory attacks and Israeli hospitals regularly treat Gaza Palestinians many of whom are injured resulting from Israeli military attacks.

As I have pointed out before, there are Nazi influences involved in inspiring Islamic terrorism and it all started with the Muslim Brotherhood who helps organize and support groups like Hamas, CAIR and probably CARAMA. For example, the Muslim Brotherhood's founder, Hassan al-Banna, was a Nazi sympathizer. Before World War II, the Grand Mufti of Palestine named Mohammed Amin al-Husseini escaped British Palestine after inciting riots against Jews during the Islamic holiday of Nabi Musa and migrated to Europe obtaining personal audiences with Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler. Husseini became friends with Henrich Himmler and was made a General in the Nazi German SS. He helped Nazi Germany and other European fascist regimes in exterminating their Jewish populations and helped raise Muslim regiments for the SS. Upon Nazi Germany falling to the Allied invasion of Europe, Husseini fled to Egypt where he was given a hero's welcome and continued his activities supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and helped found and support the PLO that was headed by Yasser Arafat (Husseini's nephew).

What Israel and the US are fighting is not just Islamic jihadism but also Nazism too. When Nazism died in Europe it found new life in the Middle East thanks, in large part to people like Mohammed al-Husseini and Hassan al-Banna. It is all a fact that many Nazi books and other literature (like Mein Kampf) are not only sold in Arabic but also best sellers in the Middle East. This includes many Nazis fleeing to the region where many helped Muslim countries in their wars against Israel. Thanks to the influence of ex-Nazis in the Middle East, groups like Hamas regurgitate anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and other propaganda that were originally used in Nazi Germany. For example, back in 2002 a TV station in Egypt showed a mini series based on the anti-Semitic pamphlet Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Hamas TV re-broadcasts this series and has other children programs littered with anti-Semitic themes that demonize Jews and encourage kids to become jihadists.

In light of all of this one would think that these would be the elements any libertarian would not want to be associated with. Despite Islam's condemnation of homosexuality and almost every Muslim country (including the Palestinian Authority territories) where gays and lesbians are either jailed or executed, it has not stopped Justin Raimondo (who is gay) from ranting against Israel in which groups like Hamas ultimately benefit from Raimondo's scorn of Israel. He not only accuses Israel of knowing about the coming terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 but also authored two recent opinion pieces on Antiwar.com condemning the country. One article of his makes the ridiculous claim Israel kills Gaza Palestinians for the fun of it.

In closing I will quote Dr. Martin Luther King who said in 1968:

Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect her right to exist, its territorial integrity and the right to use whatever sea lanes it needs. Israel is one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security, and that security must be a reality.
