Over the years, numerous experts have warned about privacy and cybersecurity risks with all "smart" (see 1, 2, 3, 4), wireless, artificial intelligence (A.I) and/or Internet of Things (IoT) technologies (see 1, 2, 3). Reports about risks as well as violations from "smart home" technologies (see 1, 2, 3) including "smart" meters and thermostats have been ongoing as well.  Additionally, "smart" home devices emit harmful radiation (see 1, 2)!  In fact, manufacturers of wireless devices are required to warn users about exposure risks and service animals and/or pets can be affected by exposure too!

Nevertheless, "smart homes" are still being built and given to disabled veterans by the Gary Sinese Foundation, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and other well-meaning groups.  The U.S. military is recommending "smart home" devices to veterans as well.  Think these veterans and their family members are being warned about any of this before they move in?
