The United States government is currently missing a Speaker of the House, after Kevin McCarthy was suddenly ousted two weeks ago. Now, Jim Jordan may be primed to take over the empty seat.

This is the first time a House Speaker has been removed in this fashion, and has brought upon many unprecedented firsts to the government processes.

McCarthy was originally on the hot seat for working across the aisle with Democrats on a budget to prevent the government shutdown, displeasing many of his Republican colleagues.
