One of the most shocking details was that an FBI informant reported that during a protest at the state capitol in May 2020 against Whitmer's continued use of emergency powers and lockdowns, the FBI told the Michigan police to stand down and let the protesters, some of whom were armed, into the building. A case can be made that this event served as a model for FBI involvement in the January 6 storming of the US Capitol building.
