Despite ongoing issues reported about electric vehicles (EVs) over the years (see 1234567), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) received $7.5 billion to install 500,000 more EV stations.  Despite ongoing issues reported about "Smart Cities" over the years (see 12345678), the DOT has sponsored their creation.  Current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigeg is a big fan too.  Now the DOT has $1B to address past harmful municipal projects.  Think the agency will try to incorporate more controversial and risky EV infrastructure and "Smart City" technology in its efforts?

Communities wanting to remove or retrofit divisive pieces of transportation infrastructure have a new pilot program to turn to.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced the formation of a first-ever program to address past wrongs from the development of highways, rail lines and other infrastructure that have divided neighborhoods, often at the expense of Black and brown neighborhoods.
