Over the years there has been increasing opposition worldwide to government agencies and private companies launching rockets, satellites, and similar vehicles.  In addition to dangers associated with increasing space junk levels (see 12), research has determined that there are significant biological and environmental risks associated with these launches.  Earlier this week, Global Network published a 14-minute video jam-packed with facts and footage of why everyone should be deeply concerned about this.  Will Lockett wrote a compelling article as well that was published on Medium.  Nevertheless, the space race seems to only be speeding up and leading the way is notorious tech mogul Elon Musk.

From Ars Technica:

SpaceX moves a massive rocket with 33 engines to its launch pad for tests

No rocket with this many engines has ever successfully launched.

It has been a long time since SpaceX launched a rocket from South Texas. After a flurry of seven Starship prototype test flights from August 2020 through May 2021, the company has not flown from its launch pads near Boca Chica Beach.
