Special counsel John Durham says FBI, fed agencies slow-walking document release...

• by: Jim Patrick

To the surprise of no one, it appears the FBI and other U.S. intelligence agencies are taking their time releasing documents in the case against Igor Danchenko, accused of lying to investigators engaged in the probe of the Steele dossier and related Russia collusion hoax, the Washington Times reports, citing special counsel John Durham.

In a court filing, Durham asked U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga to extend the deadline imposed to turn over classified documents to Danchenko's attorneys. He is asking for a one-month extension, which would move the deadline from May 13 to June 13.

Durham accused the FBI and other intelligence agencies of "slow walking" the declassification and release of some evidence, claiming that "recent world events" had interfered with their timely release, an obvious reference to Russia's war with Ukraine.

"Some of the officials preparing and reviewing the documents at the FBI and intelligence agencies continue to be heavily engaged in matters related to overseas activities," Durham wrote. "Nevertheless, the government is continuing to press the relevant authorities to produce documents in classified discovery as quickly as possible and on a rolling basis, and no later than the proposed deadline set forth below."

Thus far, the government has provided Danchenko's legal team some 5,000 classified documents and 61,000 unclassified documents, according to the filing. Durham noted that he's turned over the bulk of the classified evidence.
