GOP Sen Blunt refuses to support Supreme Court nominee

Sen. Roy Blunt refused to vote in support of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson.

"She is certainly qualified [and] I think she has got a great personality … but the judicial philosophy seems to be not the philosophy of looking at what the law says and the Constitution says and applying that," he said according to ABC's "This Week" program.

"I will not be supporting her but I will be joining others in understanding the importance of this moment," he added.

Blunt believes Joe Biden's administration is just trying to put more African Americans on the court bench.

"My sense is that the president certainly had every good intention and every right in the campaign to talk about putting the first black woman on the court," he said according to the broadcaster.

"I was hoping that I could be part of that [and] I had a great conversation with her," he added.

Fellow GOP Sens. Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.) have also ruled out voting in favor of Jackson's nomination.
