Conservative MP Candice Bergen delivered an enthusiastic speech at the House of Commons on Tuesday, laying out the science proving lockdowns didn't help prevent the spread of Covid before asking, "Will the prime minister follow the science, follow the evidence, end the restrictions, end the mandates?"

Trudeau responded with a generic statement about continuing to "follow the science" and improving Canadian lives.

Bergen told the prime minister that he's "being divisive" and noted that many countries with lower vaccination rates than Canada have already dropped their Covid restrictions.

She said, "Canadians want their lives back. So again I ask the prime minister, will he follow the evidence? Will he follow the science? End the mandates. End the restrictions, quickly."

Trudeau claimed he has been "following the science" and "had Canadians' backs" throughout the pandemic and promised to continue following the same science he's been using to lock down the country.

The prime minister then resorted to attacking the opposition party by saying, "I'm extremely pleased to hear the conservatives talking about following science, because that's something they've fallen down on throughout this pandemic, whether it was not choosing to get vaccinated, whether it's continuing to debate over the effectiveness of public health measures…"

During the same hearing, Conservative MP Pierre Marcel Poilievre said he wished the Liberal Party would "respect the thousands of people who are fighting for their livelihoods right now, and who are doing their best to get this country back on track."

Poilievre continued, "This country right now is like a raw nerve, and the prime minister is jumping up and down on it again and again with his inflammatory rhetoric."
