'We cannot go on like this': Surrounded by trucks, some downtown Ottawa restaurants...

• Ottawa Citizen

Monday was supposed to be a good day for downtown restaurants that could finally seat customers in their dining rooms again after the pandemic ban on indoor dining, in place for most of January, expired. But for some businesses, the ongoing "Freedom Convoy" protest on their doorsteps ran over plans to reopen.

"It's chaos down there, wall-to-wall trucks, and the noise is unbearable," Anthony Bailey, owner-operator of Toro Taqueria on Bank Street, said Monday morning.

Bailey's tiny eatery is four blocks from Parliament Hill and he visited his business long enough to survey the situation, which included three 18-wheelers parked in front.
