A US Capitol rioter was arrested after he was overheard bragging about his January 6 trip to Washington DC while having his teeth cleaned at the dentist, it is alleged. 

According to a complaint from the U.S. Justice Department, Daniel Warmus, 37, was at the dentist's office six days after he allegedly took part in storming the Capitol building, when someone overheard talking about his involvement and reported it to the authorities. 

Warmus was also reportedly overheard at the office telling others that he had smoked marijuana in the Capitol building. He is further said to have played a video of himself taking part in the riot, although the tipster was unable to see that clip, the complaint says. 

The identity of the tipster was not given, but they were able to provide the FBI with details on Warmus including his phone number and address, which the agency used in its subsequent investigation to track the alleged rioter down. 

He is charged with disorderly conduct, unlawful entry of a restricted building with intent to disrupt the orderly conduct of government business.

Warmus was arrested earlier this week and made his first court appearance on Tuesday. Over the course of their investigation, FBI officials reviewed amateur and security video footage of the Jan. 6 riot, and using DMV and passport photos for comparison, observed a man resembling Warmus near the Washington Monument and later inside the Capitol building.

He was seen wearing a black sweatshirt with the words 'CNN is fake news' and a Trump 2020 baseball cap, according to screenshots of the footage.
