Japan's transparent restrooms hope to dispel stereotypes of dirty public toilets

• South China Morning Post

Transparent restrooms, which turn opaque once the door is locked, have gone into operation at two parks in Tokyo, Japan. They are part of a project launched by a non-profit organisation and local government to renovate 17 public washrooms in Shibuya. The programme aims to dispel Japanese stereotypes that public toilets are dirty, smelly and scary.
